Educational Assistant

Are you interested in hands-on, outdoor education? If so, we have a volunteer role for you at rare!

Join us as an Educational Assistant and you will gain valuable experience in outdoor environmental education; experience with leading school groups; and learn about different ecosystems and natural heritage. Tasks include assisting with preparation related to educational hikes and programs; and assisting with the delivery of educational programming.

Volunteers should be upper year or graduated from a university or college with a background in ecology, environmental sciences, physical geography, or education. Must be willing and possess some experience working with children and community groups of all ages. Natural History knowledge is an asset. A Police Vulnerable Sectors Check is required (a letter from rare can be issued to receive this check at a reduced volunteer rate).

The hours will vary, but the ideal candidate would typically be available for 2 to 3 hours per week during regular office hours (Monday to Friday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) with some evenings and weekends.

If interested, please contact Gerrit Kamminga at 519-650-9336 x 123 or via email at education@raresites.org.
