Soil Humus Decay Rate Monitor


Assist the Monitoring Technician with:

  1. Prepping the decay sticks including weighing and tagging
  2. Removal of last year’s decay sticks from forest plots
  3. Installing decay sticks into plots
  4. Processing last year’s decay sticks
  5. Record keeping

Time frame and location:

Volunteers should be able to commit to 10 days throughout late October to mid November, over a 3 week time span. Typically ½ day duration, but flexible.

Volunteering will take place on site on rare property.

Required Qualifications:

  • Physically fit for covering uneven terrain
  • CPR/First Aid training an asset
  • Previous field experience an asset

Training Provided:

Orientation will be given during monitoring sessions.

Position will report to the Ecological Monitoring Technician.
