Community Outreach and Organizer Volunteer

If you’re interested in working within a team of volunteers who are making a positive difference locally through community outreach — we’re looking for you!


  • Canvass neighbourhoods with a rare staff member and other volunteers to spread the word about rare and our plans to grow as a land trust
  • Ask people to sign the raresites Conservation Pledge
  • Help to make rare a household word in Waterloo Region and Wellington County

We are asking volunteers to commit to two shifts of 2-3 hours — one in July and one in August. Volunteers can also canvass their own neighbourhoods independently at a flexible time that works for them.

Required Qualifications:

  • Interested in engaging the community
  • Passionate about meeting new people
  • Comfortable communicating in a friendly and confident manner
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to work outdoors

Training Provided:

A training session prior to the volunteer shifts will be provided. Community Outreach and Organizer Volunteers will be required to attend the training session before beginning to volunteer in this role.

Expected Benefits:
