Invasive Shrub Removal - Morning, September 30

Autumn Olive, Buckthorn, Barberry, White Mulberry, and Invasive Honeysuckles are woody invasive trees and shrubs that can be found throughout the property, even encroaching on old growth forest. These species cause harm to the economy and the environment by outcompeting native trees and shrubs, reducing biodiversity, and degrading the quality of wildlife habitat. Buckthorn, for example, can host oat crown rust, which reduces crop yields, and its berries are a laxative to wildlife. The removal of invasive shrubs is one of the more labour-intensive removal days and requires the use of a shovels as well as weed wrenches. Cost: This event is FREE  For more information, contact rare's Conservation Technician:  519-650-9336 x114 or alissa.fraser@raresites.org
