Preston Flats Invasive Species Management

Description:

Friday July 5th, 2019
9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Meet at Lamb's Inn (1679 Blair Road, Cambridge)

Every year, rare takes on new ecological restoration initiatives in order to enhance and rehabilitate the unique native habitats of this urban land trust. Together with volunteer and community support, the rare Charitable Research Reserve is happy to provide meaningful opportunities for environmental education and stewardship through volunteer restoration activities. Join us and help conserve biodiversity in the floodplain at Preston Flats by removing invasive species that are threatening biodiversity by outcompeting native plants. Invasive species present in the area include Himalayan Balsam and Garlic Mustard.

Identification of invasive species training will be provided on site as well as instruction on proper removal techniques. This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain in field experience with ecological restoration and become more familiar with flora of southern Ontario.

Cost: This event is FREE

Each volunteer day will have a morning (9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m) and afternoon (1:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m.) session. Volunteers are welcome to sign up for one or both sessions.

We are sorry but registration for this event is now closed.

Please contact us if you would like to know if spaces are still available.
