With more people facing mental health challenges, it’s clear that natural spaces areimportant for giving us all a break from the stress of daily life.
Today, I’m reaching out to share an important message about a growing problem that’s affecting young people — climate anxiety.
The climate crisis is real, urgent and requires action now to protect the future.
Young people tell us that climate anxiety is common, affecting their ability to enjoy life or to see a positive future. They constantly hear alarming news about extreme weather and climate change and see firsthand the damage to nature. This anxiety is more than worry — it’s a deep fear about the future and the world that will be theirs.
The weight of this anxiety can sometimes be too much, affecting their mental health. But even in this difficult situation, there is hope. And that hope is YOU!
As severe weather becomes more common, protecting our natural green spaces is more important than ever.
By giving to rare today, you’re taking action. You’re protecting over 1,500 acres of natural spaces that support well-being — now and for the future.
The support you have given us has been a tremendous help in advancing rare’s programs. This year, we invite you to renew your support and turn it into action for young people facing climate anxiety.
Here's how your donation makes a real impact:
Matt has a story to share of how your support makes a difference:
Matt was one of the first teens engaged with the rEYN. He heard about rEYN through the Waterloo Region Nature Teens group as an opportunity to make real progress for protecting the environment locally, which is his passion. Matt led the events planning for rEYN including community clean-up initiatives and spoke at local events about sustainable practices. His transformation from anxiety to leadership is a testament to the power of targeted support.
“I feel that rEYN made genuine change by providing opportunities for everyone to get involved with litter clean-ups. I hope that the youth continue to make tangible change like the nest protectors and clean-ups and do more with removing invasive species.”
Matt has now moved onto his first year at the University of Guelph studying Environmental Science and we wish him great success.
As the year ends, your support is needed more than ever to help create a brighter future.
Your donation will expand programs, support local projects and empower youth to overcome their climate anxiety. And be matched.
Imagine a world where young people are inspired to act, not frozen by fear. Your support makes this vision possible.
Every gift, regardless of size, brings us closer to a world where youth can look to the future with hope and confidence.
Donate today! Visit the donation page on our website, drop off a cheque to 1679 Blair Rd, Cambridge, ON N3H 4R8, or send an e-transfer to stephanie.sobek-swant@raresites.org. Thank you so much for taking action!
Climate change shows that we must work together. If you know others who share your passion for nature and concern for its future, please encourage them to give as well.
Help turn anxiety into action to build a future where our planet and youth thrive.
Thank you for standing with us at this critical time. Your compassion and commitment are helping shape a better world for generations to come.
With gratitude,
