The lands of rare house 24 different habitats and over 5,200 different species, including over 70% of the bird species, 60% of the amphibians and reptiles, 50% of the mammal species and a third of the varieties of plants of Waterloo Region. And over two dozen species of fish inhabit the rivers and streams of rare.
We undertake research that uses various perspectives to develop best practices in land stewardship, including sustainable and reciprocal human interaction with the land.
We train the next generation of land stewards who will perpetuate these values.
We create an entire community of support for shared goals among scientists, Indigenous communities, artists and conservationists at all levels.
With 24 habitats and over 5,200 species, we protect sensitive lands and research sites through sustainable management, allowing the public to enjoy 14 kilometers of trails, community gardens, and interpretive events.
