Keep Nature Thriving – Even When the Mail Stops Moving!

As severe weather becomes more common, protecting our natural green spaces is more important than ever.

At rare, we hope that Canada Post workers and management reach a fair agreement soon. However, the ongoing strike is creating challenges in how we can reach each other.

If you haven’t received our year-end mailing yet, highlighting an important message about a growing problem that’s affecting young people —climate anxiety  —   you can read it here and expect to receive it in your mailbox once the strike is resolved.

In the meantime, there are many ways you can make your gift to rare before this year’s tax deadline.

You can visit our donation page at raresites.org/donate. Or our Canada Helps page.

For those living in or near Waterloo Region who prefer to donate by cheque, you can bring it directly to rare’s office at 1679 Blair Road, Cambridge. Our office hours are Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4p.m., or you can call Kim or Maisy at (519) 650-9336 x123 to arrange another time. Our office is open until December 20, when we break for the holidays.

Thanks to a couple who have supported rare for years, any donations made before the end of the year will go further. They are matching all new donations of $20 or more.  If you’ve made a gift in previous years and now make a new gift that is at least $20 more than your last donation, they will also match your increase doubling your impact — up to $5,000!

By giving to rare today, you’re taking action. You’re protecting over 1,500 acres of natural spaces that support well-being for all — now and for the future.

Here's how your donation makes a real impact:

  • By supporting rare, you’re making the community stronger. Your donation gives access to outdoor spaces and programs that help ease climate anxiety, like tree planting or yoga in nature, as examples.
  • Community involvement is key to solving climate challenges. Your donation provides events, workshops and educational sessions that bring people together to discuss local climate issues. A stronger community can be built by encouraging conversations, teamwork and collective action.
  • Focusing on youth, one of the most at-risk groups affected by climate change, the rare Environmental Youth Network (rEYN) will lead efforts to ease climate anxiety. Your support helps fund climate awareness programs and projects, providing safe and interactive spaces for youth to learn, grow and become climate leaders themselves.

Climate change shows that we must work together. If you know others who share your passion for nature and concern for its future, please encourage them to give and join the rare community and/or honour them with a Gift of Nature in their name.

Imagine a world where young people are inspired to act, not frozen by fear. Your support makes this vision possible. Thank you!

Your compassion and commitment are helping shape abetter world for generations to come.

If you have questions, please reach out to Christine Thompson at 519-650-9336 x118. She’d be happy to hear from you.
