Turtles are Hatching!

The Turtle Team are hard at work, as the turtle eggs that were rescued and incubated three months ago are starting to hatch! Staff are caring for the newborn turtles, preparing to return them close to their original nesting site.

This means you can expect newborn turtles to be moving in the wild. Please keep an eye out for them on our roads. If you see a hatching nest, please call our Turtle Hotline at 226-962-6885, and we'll send staff to ensure that the newborn turtles stay safe.

This year, we rescued and incubated close to 2,500 eggs and we're looking forward to returning these creatures safely to the natural spaces that are their refuge.
