Martin Kastner is Canada’s New Noah

Martin completed his Master’s degree in the Department of Environment and Resource Studies at the University of Waterloo, utilizing the rare Charitable Research Reserve as a field site for his work. In 2011 and 2012 you may have seen Martin managing his forty-eight plots in an old field at Springbank Farm. Looking at the best practices for restoring meadow habitats, Martin examined the impact of several soil restoration techniques on native meadow species. After completing his graduate studies, Martin is now having the experience of a lifetime! He has been selected by Wildlife Preservation Canada from over more than 100 candidates to be Canada’s New Noah- a truly one of a kind training experience for young biologists in Canada.

We at rare are thrilled to have been a small part of what is sure to be a long and meaningful career in biology and conservation for Martin.
