CANCELLED – City Nature Challenge: Exploring the Thompson Tract and Ancient Woods

This event has been cancelled due to low attendance. We apologize for any inconvenience.

The City Nature Challenge is an international effort for people to find and document plants and wildlife in cities across the globe. Organizations across Waterloo Region have partnered to get our community outside to notice the natural beauty around us. Let’s show the world the unique species that live right here in Waterloo Region!

Taking part is easy! Find and photograph wildlife across the region from April 29 to May 2. Share your observations on iNaturalist and help identity what was collectively observed. Participate alone, and/or join a CNC Meet Up event to make observations together.

CNC Meet Ups are 90 minutes events happening in different nature spaces across Waterloo Region. As a group, you will explore and make nature observations with the help of a guide. The events are free to attend, but meet-ups at rare are capped at 15 participants, so registration is required. Look for our additional City Nature Challenge events on Saturday, April 30 and Monday May 2.

The City Nature Challenge is organized on a global scale by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County and the California Academy of Sciences.
